Information and warnings
The State of Israel is dotted with many minefields, which may put at risk anyone travelling in the area. These minefields can be found near settlements, agricultural areas and popular and crowded tourist attractions. Many of these minefields are marked by fences and prominent signs, but reality shows that they do not always prevent people from entering.
It is important to know that in addition to the fenced minefields, Israel also has areas which are suspected of being mined - since over the years mines were drifted away from the fenced areas. Some of the areas suspected of being mined are not fenced (due to their size) but only marked by signposts (without a fence) - and in these areas traffic is restricted to designated roads only.
Whether the minefields are well marked by fences and signs or not, it is important to be aware of all the safety rules - to avoid unnecessary risk to human life:
Do not cross fences bearing warning signs;
Movement (walking or driving) in these areas – is limited solely to marked roads;
Unidentified or suspicious objects should not be touched, for fear of them being mine remnants;
Have you accidentally entered a dangerous area or an area suspected of being dangerous? Stand still and call the police or any one of the other security forces
Remember: following the safety rules can help deal with the danger and even prevent it ahead of time.
